What is the difference between a hard link and a symbolic link?

A symbolic link is similar to a shortcut in Windows, it is a link through which we can access a certain file which gives us the advantage of using them in our programs to access the files with which the link generates the connection.

In another hand, a hard link retains the information in the file it points to, just as if it were a mirror.

What is the difference between a symbolic link and a hard link?

The hard link will continue to retain the original file information even if the latter is deleted, while the symbolic link would not take us anywhere.
